A job found me few months ago. Yeah, it works that way. And although I'm kind of a bear, I decided to leave my cocoon for a while and accept the adventure.
The location was tempting I shall confess, so here I am crossing the ocean and moving to Venice, California, in a few days now.
To celebrate this I've decided to create a picture. Basically, this is me, 10 years older and 140 years ago, as a european dude moving for the goldrush. Hey it's not about the money (especially as far as the Euro goes...) !!
Thanks to my fella Fox who inspired me in creating a new CG illustration (understand more 3D, less 2D). This is kind of an exercise for me, pushing my limits a bit further, experimenting, etc... in order to feel more comfortable at work, and also to be faster for my regular illustration works.
Still, there is a lot of post process in Photoshop to put more groove in the final image, mostly for the colours, levels and stuff. Background is a matte painting.
Character started from my CG double from the Tattoo project. Zbrush for detailling and aging. Same process for the clothes. 600meg of textures. Mental ray, 3 points lighting with a slight HDRI addon. That's it. kinda classic you may say.

This is kind of a breakdown compared to the regular hero stereotype thingy, but eh! At least it's real. Well, as real as one can be, pushed into CG.

Hi guys!
First of all, sorry for my english....
This is my Illustration created for the "CreateMagazine" contest, inspired by Masakazu Katsura`s Manga "ZETMAN" that I really love it!
I tried to represent a feeling of lost identity accentuated by a "superHuman" nature which is asking God: who am I ?
I followed a production pipeline accurate enough. I used XSI for the layout, Zbrush for the sculpting, again XSI for lighting, shading and two final Renderpass. So, at last i merged all elements in Photoshop where i create the enviroment and other details.
I finshed this illustration in 2 months, during the free time.
I hope you like it, and to receive sensations and critics, whatever you want!
I feel this work as a part of me.
It`s been an interesting professional and emotional experience.

I've used FryRender, ZBrush (Sculpting and Polypainting), C4D (Basemeshes) and Bodypaint (Texturing Work).

(A note on the cross: It's free for Interpretation (like the whole Image)!
My base Intention for giving her a cross is to characterize her as a brave person ;))

here's a character I finished a few weeks ago. I had the basic idea after watching the animated series called "Afro samurai" and "Samurai Champloo" and thought it would be cool to design a character which could match the shows. He's a hybrid human/monkey creature specialized in infiltration and assassination mission. The polycount is around 9500 triangles for everything and I used 1024 for accessories and one 1024 for the character himself. Mud has been used for the highpoly organic sculpting.

I’ve finally gotten around to finishing her, so I thought I post her here in the finished section to show her off a bit.
It's been a real slog finding time and energy to work on her. I must admit I'm really happy with the way she has turned out, though with that in mind there are one or two small areas that could be improved upon (but aren’t there always?).
She weighs in at 8631 triangles (excluding the base). She’s made up of 3 x 2048x2048 textures (Diffuse map, Normal map and Specular map). There’s also one small 128x128 for an environment map on her eyes.
Modelled and rendered in Max 8 using standard Max materials and the scan-line rendered. Sculpting done in Zbrush.

作品简介:The Zcuintlis aka the "Yellow Dogs". Autonomous racing vehicles modified to watch the city limits and the military facilities boundaries. They were also modified to carry a human pilot, but their free will caused many accidents. The machines still do their job by their selves. Workers only ride them for maintenance purposes.
This is actually an old model, it was modeled in carrara 5 a couple of years ago. It was re-modeled in Maya and textured & post in Photoshop.

This was the final project at Humber College for the first semister where students were to reproduce a car exactly as the real world counter parts. The Catch was that the vehicle must have been dated pre 1940s, must have an engine and wheels.
Eventually after a month the car began to shape up and is now the 1939 Aston Martin Type C Speed Model. A mouth full yes, but none the less a briliant design.

All modelled, rendered, textured with modo.
I modelled a series of clone troopers based on the base CW clone trooper action figure. I disregarded the deformations of the original model resulting from the manufacturing process; one part is modelled as one mesh.
The flash, the markings on the curved surfaces, the creases on the commanders' thigh armors were all done with VectorDisplacement maps (the signs on the feet are modelled).
I did the materials of the colorings/patterns with group and layer masks, so the colors and material effects are configurable from material.
The pedestal with The Clone Wars logo is based on my own idea.

作品简介:A work in progress project, this is a concept I have been developing in partnership with an ongoing 3d project.
I made this image with composites of a model and scene I made in 3ds max.
to get good quality composites, my friend Alex "cakeboy" Jupp rendered out some Vray passes with a scene I set up and I used these to make this image.
I was given endless amounts of assistance from a Dude (with a capital "D") named Jeremy Cook. If you haven't heard of him... you most certainly will when he gets his unbelievable ass in gear and posts his stuff online
I was also given some great support by some friends Henrik, Tobi and Floris over at TRKERAKA. they know who they are lol
Am developing the High Poly model of this car now.
